Kimmy C.
Founder, Director, and Piano Instructor — Currently teaches group and advanced piano classes
Kimmy began playing piano at the age of six and started teaching while attending college, working with both young students and her peers. She studied classical piano with Dr. Naomi Niskala at Susquehanna University and spent a semester studying with María del Carmen Gil at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico in San Juan. Her musical education also took her abroad, including a month of study in Italy and a month-long musical exchange with students at Niigata University in Japan.
After college, Kimmy began teaching at Music & Arts while continuing to build her own studio. Several of her students stayed with her through the pandemic, becoming part of the community that would eventually grow into Keyboard with Kimmy. Today, she is grateful to have created a space where students can learn, perform, build confidence, and connect with others at the piano.
Kimmy specializes in classical piano and loves helping students develop the skills and confidence to learn music independently. Her teaching focuses on strong sight-reading, thoughtful interpretation, and helping each student bring the music on the page to life.
In addition to teaching, she has been playing for churches since 2014, first in her hometown and later at churches throughout the local community. Outside of the studio, she loves spending time with her husband, their two daughters, and the rest of her family. If she isn't spending time with the people most important to her, she is either in her garden or in the kitchen attempting to replicate her favorite store-bought treats from scratch.
Nick H.
Piano Instructor — Currently teaches group lessons
Nick has been surrounded by a love of music his whole life, with a mother who taught elementary and middle music and a grandmother who started teaching him the notes of the piano at four years old. In his Music Education studies at Messiah College and West Chester University, Nick studied trumpet, percussion, and piano, as well as sound engineering and utilizing technology to enhance learning and understanding while learning music. Nick feels very strongly about making music accessible for ALL people, so that everyone that wants to can experience the joy of making music.
In his free time, Nick enjoys crafting, being in nature, and petting every dog he can find.
Dr. Timothy O.
Piano Instructor — Currently teaches group and private lessons
Timothy also known as Digba Ogunbiyi is a Philadelphia-based pianist, composer, and educator whose music blends the rhythms and harmonic nuances of West Africa with American jazz.
He holds a Doctorate from the Eastman School of Music and serves as a faculty member at Syracuse University. Timothy has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Rochester International Jazz Festival, Dizzy’s Club, and Chris’ Jazz Café, and has shared the stage with artists including John Benitez, Anthony Tidd, The Cavemen amongst others.
Passionate about education, Timothy directs ensembles, teaches private piano, and designs curriculum that makes improvisation and global rhythm accessible to young learners. In his after-school classes, students learn not just notes, but how to listen, create, and find their own voice through music.
His latest album, Stay Still (2026), and his debut Ade’digba, celebrate the power of music to connect cultures and tell our stories.
Outside of music, Timothy is an avid hiker and traveler who finds inspiration for his compositions on trails and in new places; a curiosity he loves to bring into the classroom.
Ian S.
Piano Instructor — Currently teaches group lessons
Ian began teaching music in 2008 and has since worked with students of different ages, skill levels, and musical interests. He earned his degree in Music from Bloomsburg University, where he studied guitar, piano, and audio recording while developing a strong foundation in music theory and musicianship. He also completed an internship with Grammy Award-winning recording engineer Phil Nicolo, gaining valuable experience in professional music production and recording.
Alongside teaching, Ian has built extensive professional performance experience. He began performing with agency cover bands before joining EBE Talent, a Philadelphia-based entertainment agency, where he spent eight years playing for a wide range of audiences and events. His work with EBE took him throughout the United States and internationally to Costa Rica. Ian has also performed original music at notable Philadelphia venues, including the Trocadero Theatre, the Theatre of Living Arts, and the Fillmore Philadelphia.
Ian is passionate about sharing his experience with students and helping them build confidence, creativity, and a lasting appreciation for music.
Joe B.
Piano Instructor — Currently teaches private lessons
Joe began playing the piano at age 7 with private lessons for 5 years, and would go on to play casually on his own through high school and college.
While maintaining his sight-reading base, he expanded his playing by learning improvisation and how to play with other instruments in various Rock cover bands.
At age 24 Joe resumed lessons for another 5 years, studying privately with Hal McKay, a lifelong performer and Berklee College of Music Massachusetts graduate. During this time he learned advanced music theory and began a 10 year business performing as a solo instrumentalist, covering Rock/Pop, Jazz, Broadway, Movie/TV, and some Classical music. By mixing sight-reading, lead sheets, and improvisation, he was able to maintain a repertoire of hundreds of songs, many of which were in his own arrangements.
Joe began teaching privately around the same time he resumed lessons, and keeps it as a reminder to continually approach the piano with an open mind ready to learn. His main goal with a student is steady progress toward self-sufficiency at the piano, to learn how to steer the ship and eventually take it wherever they want to go. This means mastering the core fundamentals of reading and playing, in addition to gauging the difficulty level of a piece and exploring what music excites them. Week to week he encourages students to show how much they can play without assistance.
When not playing the piano, Joe might be found playing any of his other 7 instruments or being the cool uncle to any of his 9 nieces and nephews. Otherwise he's training to run his next ultramarathon, probably held somewhere in the mountains.
